Tyler Neighborhoods:
Country Place is a subdivision located in far South Tyler a couple of miles east of US 69 and south of FM 346. This is a neighborhood distinguished by lakes, rolling hills and homes on larger lots. It’s a great place to live…and we know that because we’ve lived here for the past six years.

Country Place Subdivision originated in 1978 as Texas Country Properties, Inc. The initial 
development of Phase I, consisting of 272 acres, began soon after. Phase II development began in 1980 as additional property was added and the contruction of three lakes began in 1981. Texas Country Properties was dissolved in 1982 and property west of Shackelford Creek was sold to create the Oakbrook development. The developers’ original organization, Country Place Landowners Association, was merged into the Property Owners Association to create our present Country Place Community Association, Inc on November 15th, 1984.
The first homes were built here in 1980, the most recent this year (2013). Lots vary in size from about one to over thirty-one acres. Architectural styles found here include Colorado cabin, prairie, ranch, New England and traditional. The smallest home here is less than 2,000, the largest is over 5,000 square feet. After the initial development, another lake was added. These four lakes were built for the use of association members (and their kids). The largest is about seven acres. All the lakes have piers, feeders, and have been stocked with bream, channel cat and bass. Every year the association stocks tilapia, a tropical fish, to provide forage and to help control aquatic weeds.
Each year the association sponsors (depending on the weather) a Spring Picnic, an Easter Party/Egg Hunt, a Fall Festival
and Hayride, and Caroling By the Fire, affording residents an opportunity to mingle (and kids a chance to play). There is also a Ladies Luncheon group who meet regularly. All dues-paying members are invited to the board meetings which are held monthly at a time and place to be announced on the association’s website. You can review the deed restrictions here.
Among Country Place property owners are doctors, lawyers, teachers, law enforcement officers, small business owners, realtors and a number of retirees. Residents and visitors here report having seen deer, feral hogs, foxes, coyotes, squirrels, pileated woodpeckers, hawks and even the occasional eagle. Our resident Great Blue Heron, Henry, guards the fish feeder on Lake #3.
