Our new neighbor, Michelle, presented us with two jars of plum jam a few weeks ago and I was reminded of all the wonderful jellies, jams, and vegetables my Grandma Neal used to put up every summer. (It also brought back an image of the pickled deer’s feet my Grandma Lynch used to offer, but somehow never found any takers.) Andrea and I have been hiding Michelle’s jam from one another in hopes of making it last a bit longer; we’ve also put in our order for a case next summer.
If you’ve been thinking of preserving some of those plums, pears, peaches, grapes or produce, you’ll be interested in Robyn Roehm Cannon’s article, “Putting Up Produce”.
