Ms Highsmith: A Widow Downsizes
Several years after her husband’s death, at almost 70, Judith badly needed to downsize and asked her friend Steve Tarantino for a recommendation on a good realtor that he personally trusted. Steve immediately praised Andrea and Larry Lynch at Rose Capital Realty, whom he and his partner had used previously, and soon after Judith asked them to both sell her large home on 5 acres outside of Tyler and to find her a smaller, more easily cared for home in Tyler. Finding a buyer turned out to be an easier process than finding a suitable home to move into, as the market in Tyler had heated up considerably and homes were moving quickly. Fortunately, Andrea found one for her that turned out to be a good fit in a great gated community, then arranged for both properties to close on the same day. Unfortunately, the seller of the new property passed away unexpectedly before the property could be closed, which created a situation none of those involved had ever experienced before, with some unusual complications.
“”Fortunately, working with Andrea and Larry felt right from the beginning because of our similar business marketing backgrounds. Larry’s talent with a camera produced a beautiful portfolio of photos which served better than any written description to attract attention to my home, resulting in a buyer who was relocating to Tyler. Andrea and I brainstormed ways to make my home appealing to a buyer, as well as evaluating the features and benefits of the many properties she showed me to downsize into, and then she staged my property to its polished best before Larry took his beautiful photos.
When we ran into the unexpected complication of my seller passing away before we could close on the new property, Andrea was flawless in her ability to keep things calm and on-track on all sides as we moved through the probate process, eventually allowing me to close on the new property and complete my move. She was even able to create a situation which allowed me to move into the property before the actual close, which made my life – and those of my two dogs – far easier than remaining in a hotel for the entire time. She did a great job of hand-holding, researching, explaining and otherwise keeping me in the moment.
I cannot recommend Andrea and Larry enough for making a difficult process far easier and more painless than I might have expected it to be, under the circumstances. Their knowledge and integrity in their business will allow me to respect them without reservation for a long, long time – even though I’ve dealt with realtors in buying and selling properties in many locations for many years, I have to say that they are without equal and wonderful people, to boot. It’s always a blessing to find a friend in the midst of a business deal!”
Our best wishes to Judith Highsmith in her new, and more manageable, home.
